VPI Logística (Valencia Plataforma Intermodal y Logística SA SME MP) is a company whose main objective is the development of the necessary infrastructures to promote the logistics of merchandise linked to the ports managed by the Valencia Port Authority and companies in the most efficient way. to which it provides its services.
The Port Authority of Valencia has been a pioneer for many years in the implementation of the most advanced environmental policies and its environmental strategy is internationally recognized. This implementation of environmental policies cannot be restricted to port facilities and must in turn be transferred to logistics spaces in which the Port Authority has a direct participation, counting for this on Valencia Plataforma Intermodal y Logística S.A, S.M.E. M.P.
Valenciaport is the main port in the Mediterranean in container traffic and at the end of 2022, the fifth in Europe and the twenty-sixth worldwide, this traffic representing more than 75% of the port’s global traffic. This international leadership position must be balanced by the representation of the Port Authority of Valencia in the national and international sectoral organizations of reference in the sector.
The Port Authority of Valencia, has powers, among other issues, in the promotion of industrial and commercial activities related to maritime or port traffic, as is the case, and, indirectly, to the improvement of the general transport networks of use for the purpose of enhancing the competitiveness of road and rail intermodal freight transport.
The Port Authority’s strategy contemplates, among other actions, the promotion of connectivity, intermodality and sustainability in terms of infrastructure and maritime port transport of goods. In this sense, the promotion of rail transport is planned as a transport alternative to absorb a greater share of land traffic, favoring the decongestion of traffic on the roads and reducing CO2 emissions. To this end, it is committed to boosting rail-port traffic, promoting connections with corridors such as the Cantabrian, Mediterranean or Center, facilitating connectivity with the hinterland and cargo generation areas.
Among other measures, said Strategy includes supporting intermodal projects in strategic locations through dry ports and logistics zones. For the development of these actions, the PAV has VPI Logistics. Currently, the Port Authority is already present in the Madrid-Coslada, Zaragoza-Plaza railway terminals and in the future Valencia Fuente San Luis Intermodal.
